2015
- MASSYR is founded in Lebanon as a non‑profit association and launches the SAFIR Project to support young artists from Syria and the Middle East.
- Applications open for SAFIR’s first pilot Contemporary Artists Program.
- Noor Bahjat Al Masri becomes the first young artist selected for the SAFIR pilot.
2016
- SAFIR begins publishing interviews with the artists in its community, written by its interns and contributors.
2017
- TA’AROF, SAFIR’s first young artist workshop, is developed around Sharjah Biennial 13.
- TA’AROF I takes place in Sharjah, with lectures, studio visits and mentoring from curators and artists including Reem Fadda, Fawz Kabra, Tarek Abou El Fetouh, Christine Tohme, Safwan Dahoul, Thaeir Hilal and Ismail al‑Rifai.
- TA’AROF II is held in Beirut.
2018
- SAFIR launches English language classes for the artists in its programme.
- SAFIR announces its official launch at Art Dubai.
- SAFIR officially launches on 24 March at Art Dubai 2018.
- The Summer Digital Tools Workshop is held in Beirut.
2023
- Juhayda Bitar takes up an artist residency in Brazil.
- Noor Bahjat Al Masri takes up an artist residency in Europe.
2024
- Dana Alnafouri exhibits in South Korea with SAFIR’s support.
- Dana Alnafouri’s exhibition travels to the BUoY Arts Center in Tokyo.
